Mouton attended Louisiana State University (LSU), initially joining on a basketball scholarship and playing as a guard. After two seasons, he shifted his focus exclusively to baseball, playing as an outfielder for the LSU Tigers from 1989 to 1991. During his tenure, he led the Tigers to three consecutive College World Series appearances, culminating in a national championship victory in 1991. Mouton earned recognition on the College World Series All-Tournament Team in both 1990 (as a designated hitter) and 1991 (as an outfielder). In the summer of 1990, he showcased his talents in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Brewster Whitecaps, where he was named a league all-star.
Lyle Joseph Mouton played professionally in the New York Yankees organization from 1991 to 2001. An athletic and versatile outfielder, he spent a decade developing and competing within one of baseball’s most prestigious organizations, bringing professionalism, discipline, and a strong work ethic throughout his career.
After retiring from professional baseball, Mouton has remained active in the sport, contributing to various baseball programs and sharing his expertise with upcoming players. He has been involved in professional coaching to enhance players’ skills.
